Now that I updated the box rig, I needed to test it to make sure it’s production-worthy. I took this afternoon to animate the box in a similar fashion to how I want it to work in the final piece (see my Toyota Prius animatic for context). Long story short, it works! The animation is only a second long, so I added a second buffer on both ends of the video so Vimeo would accept the file (it also makes it easier on the eyes). Here it is!
The box looks great – very quick, snappy animation with the right amount of blur. Maybe one more beat before the sides fall over?
Why is there no bottom to the box?
That’s a functional design decision. In the animatic, the box falls from the top of the frame and covers the “74 years” text. If there was a bottom to the box, the 74 would go straight through the geometry, which wouldn’t make much sense. Do you think it needs a bottom anyway?
